EFKA to return contribution overrun to 345,000 workers
By December 31, the Single Social Security Entity (EFKA) is expected to return the first batch of some 105 million euros, out of a total €208.3 million, to 345,000 self-employed professionals, freelancers and farmers, regarding payments they made last year.
These professionals paid more than they should have as their contributions were calculated on estimated earnings for 2019.
As of this year, they themselves get to choose the contributions category they want to be in for the next 12 months, from among six options. EFKA and the Labor Ministry are scrambling to credit those workers the cash they are due before the year ends.
